Message from the Mayor!

Welcome to Williamson – the “Heart of the Billion Dollar Coalfields”, with convenient access to Corridor “G”, a major highway system serving southern West Virginia and eastern Kentucky just across the Tug Fork of the Big Sandy River.

Williamson is an historic coal mining and railroad town rich in culture and history, being home of the world famous “Coal House”, a structure constructed entirely of coal which houses the Tug Valley Chamber of Commerce, as well as its historic City Hall, being the former site of the Norfolk & Western Railway train station.

As Mayor, I envision Williamson as an interesting and safe place to live, work, and raise our children.
Come for the enjoyment, adventure of our Connector to the Hatfield/McCoy Trail System, Death Rock, our annual King Coal Festival, Great White Way, Williamson Farmers Market, Monthly 5Ks and Hatfield/McCoy Marathon – stay for our renowned southern hospitality.
